Your Death Still Haunts Me

Your Death Still Haunts Me is a photo series project and exploration of grief through my late brother’s personal artifacts along with artifacts of living siblings, friends, and chosen family. The self-portraits were taken in my mom’s basement surrounded by things she has held onto for necessity and for remembering. The blue light is a nod to my late brother, whom I shared a favorite color with.
Artists in Public Schools residency
During my residency at Artists in Public Schools (25-26), I worked with students at the Instituto Health Science Career Academy. I focused on helping them document their personal artifacts through still life photography. Working in health sciences can be emotionally challenging, so these workshops were designed to teach students how to use art as a means to process grief. This approach allows them to move forward in their work while establishing a lasting art practice that they can lean on.
The students then took their photos and rendered still life paintings from the reference.

This upcoming school year (26-27), students will explore eco-printing and document their environment to raise awareness of social issues that are important to them. We will look at using found/recycled materials, eco-friendly printing options, and telling a story through a composition.
